Fairfax, VA (January 14, 2004)—OC Systems, Inc. announced
that its Universal Agent has been certified
ca smart with
Unicenter Network and Systems Management (Unicenter NSM) from Computer
Associates International, Inc. (CA). The Universal Agent expands Unicenter's
application management capabilities beyond those software packages (such as
SAP and Microsoft Exchange) for which CA already provides application
agents. Customers can now monitor virtually any packaged or custom
application within their environment to ensure business continuity and
performance.
Unicenter NSM manages the availability and performance of
operating systems and provides basic status management on all infrastructure
elements—including network devices, business applications and database
systems—to deliver an efficient and responsive on-demand computing
environment.
OC Systems' Universal Agent and CA's Unicenter NSM provide a
framework to further define instrumentation and monitoring policies for
critical applications within organizations' IT enterprises. The Universal
Agent uses OC Systems' patented Aprobe instrumentation technology to
instrument the application at runtime, while it is in memory. No application
files are changed. No access to source is required, and there is no need to
rebuild or recompile the application.
Virtually any internal or external aspect of the application
can be monitored, including data related to method or function entry or
exit; business objects, parameter values, variables, queues, and other
program objects; and timing of selected functions, methods, or transactions.
By intimately monitoring the internal functioning and
performance of applications, technical staff can identify potential problems
faster and resolve them before business processes are affected.
